Hello, I’m trying to figure out how to use onenote as my daily note app while minimizing (managing) storage footprint. I’ll mostly type in stuff on my work laptop, but need to view them time to time from my android phone and cheap windows tablet with 32GB emmc. My windows 10 work laptop probably has biggest storage among these three devices but it is still limited due to its SSD configuration. I tried evernote before, but when its usage was past 2+ years I remember desktop application wanted more than 5GB+ for keeping notes in sync. I stopped using evernote then when I realized there is no option using desktop application to somehow limit storage usage on local pc while keeping my data synced on server. I know onenote syncs with onedrive, which recently announce its storage cut for free tier users but will do for this scenario. What I thought was that as notes are stored inside a notebook “file” on onedrive, I can pull notes out when it reaches ~2GB and do backup locally. I can then make new notebook and repeat as needed, archiving local backup to external hdd or so. Outlook connector for mac. In that way I can keep onenote in sync using cloud for current notebook and previous notebook are not lost either—just not in cloud anymore. Why does screen jump while highlighting cells in excel 2011 for mac pro. I believe (hope?) I can upload them later if I really need them in cloud again. I see that onenote metro app (windows 10 built in) doesn’t support local notebook. I do have ms office 2013 (and maybe 365 in the future) so to open offline notebook backups hopefully won’t be a problem. I currently only installed Word/Excel/Powerpoint from office 2013 but I can install onenote later. However I don’t know for sure whether this is how onenote works—does anyone see problem in this scenario? ![]() Any other tips from users with limited storage? It's been a while since I used Evernote but my recollection is that you can't selectively sync the notebooks, it's all or nothing. With OneNote, you can have many notebooks on your OneDrive but only choose to sync some of them to each device. I have like 8 notebooks, most of them synced to my daily pc because storage doesn't matter, only syncing 2 to my mobile. Also, I have been surprised at how little space my notebooks take up after years of notes. Though most my notes are just text, screenshots, and file attachments. My personal and work notebooks are like 600mb and 1.2gb.and that represents several years of frequent use. If you intend to do a lot of linking within your notes then you'll want to plan ahead a bit.
